The incident unfolded on before dismissal on Thursday, Jan. 16, when the student initially assaulted another child in the classroom, prompting an intervention that went wrong.
A teacher attempting to de-escalate the situation became the next target, a spokesperson from the Charles County Sheriff's Office said.
When administrators stepped in to restore order, the violence continued.
One administrator was bitten by the student, while another was also punched, officials reported.
Due to Maryland law, the elementary school student cannot face criminal charges because of their age; however, disciplinary measures are being pursued under the Charles County Public Schools Student Code of Conduct, and the student has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services for further review.
No serious injuries to the involved teachers or administrators were reported.
